The move to and copy to actions use AppleScript and Finder's implementation.
Finder will not let you move files from one volume to another for safety
reasons (if your drive disconnects mid-transfer you could lose all the
data).
Unfortunately this is considered the safest method, and I don't think we
have any plans to change it.
The QS window staying visible is a feature - it displays the file in its new
'moved to' location.

The 'move to trash' action on the other had DOESN'T use AppleScript. We're
discussing changing to using Finder's implementation for moving things to
trash. It should mean more reliable trashing.
This is all in discussion and may hopefully materialise in a new release
soonish.
