I'm maybe pointing out the obvious but if you know that pressing 'T' & 'R' is 
the default for Transmission you don't need to press enter at all, just press 
'T' then 'R' but keep the 'R' held down & it'll automatically open 
Transmission, assuming the default action for Transmission is 'Open'. Which it 
probably will be. Same for launching Skype, this time just press 'S' then hold 
the 'K' till it runs the "Open Skype" action. 

Doesn't solve the problem but it's a quicker way to run default actions without 
needing to press 'Enter' & should work for the examples mentioned.
