I've also noticed that if I'm playing a track and I rate it, "Show Playing Track" will stop showing the rating for the track. On the other hand if I'm playing a track that was rated in a previous iTunes session then "Show Playing Track" will show the rating. It seems like the act of rating a track is causing a problem with displaying ratings.
