Well I've tested this now quite a bit after having followed your instructions, Jon. I've also read the two posts you sent subsequent to the one I'm replying to.
I did have 'Start at Login' ticked in QS prefs., and not any reference to QS in my startup items and it did launch at login - sometimes twice as I said before. I've now unticked that. I now have manually entered QS into my login items and things seem to have settled. I'll monitor it over the next few days. The clipboard and shelf which I like to have sliding in from the right hand side of my screen sometimes show one of two patterns of odd behaviour... they need to be launched manually or they launch but are black panels seemingly before QS itself has launched. Makes me wonder if the 'Resume' feature is somehow causing this sort of thing particularly as I wonder if that is what was causing the dual instance of QS in the dock...
