I'm not sure how relevant this will be but this smells like a
delimiter problem to me. I have a bunch of snippets that get real
persnickety about the context they're typed in until I 'clear the
context' by pressing backspace a couple of times and then type them in
again. The `.` to get in to text mode might be screwing it up.
