Hi Patrick,

I forgot to mention that in all of those cases in which the move did not work, 
moving/copying the file with replace manually (i.e. drag and drop in the 
Finder) works just fine, and I am not asked to provide auth/login. The volume 
is not protected in any way. The error also happens when copying/moving files 
with the same name on my startup drive.

I performed the test that you recommended (moving a file with the same name 
from folder ~/Desktop/A to ~/Desktop/B, and Replace came back with the same 
error).
