That's because of the escaping. Just type the path normally. Another way
to add “files” to this list is by using Append To… from the Text
Manipulation plug-in. There a screen cast demonstrating this.

can't get the desired folder as an object in Quicksilver. Before, I

I could hit command-escape with the hidden folder selected in the
finder,
and the selection in Quicksilver was made correctly. Now, when I do
that,
the selection reverts to the application folder that my folder is
hidden in.
This is probably an OS X bug. You can’t rely on Finder selection in
10.7 or 10.8. If the parent folder is selected, you can go into it using
→ or /. (You’ll have to use ⌥→ if the parent is an application.)
