There’s no right or wrong, but that’s clearly not what you want. If you drag “Open” up higher than “Large Type” in Preferences → Actions, it should work as expected.

Apparently, since the file begins its life as a string of text, it’s keeping that type, but the Large Type action fails, so the associated data must be lost. I’ll look into that.

This is probably an OS X bug. You can’t rely on Finder selection in
10.7 or 10.8.

Yes, I remember this bug now. So Apple have corrected it in 10.9?
