No to both of those questions.
I've just noticed something though - all the triggers work when I
select a
file or folder. It's only text that's not working.
That doesn’t surprise me. When getting “Current Selection”, the
first step is to see if any plug-ins claim they understand how to talk
to the active application. If you’re in Finder, the Finder plug-in
will take over and get the file(s). Something similar happens when you
have a track or playlist selected in iTunes.
In most cases, no plug-in claims to know what to do for the current
application, so it falls back to a “best effort”, which is to copy
the selection to a temporary pasteboard, then stick that into the
interface. This fallback behavior seems to be what’s failing for you.
Try this:
1. Select some text
2. Copy it with ⌘C
3. Invoke Quicksilver
4. Paste into the first pane with ⌘V
I’m hoping that will sort-of mimic the behavior that happens behind
the scenes.
