Thanks for the response, Haider.

Catalog / Plugins / Contacts plugin was and is ticked. I can't see it 
showing a count of contacts. I might not be looking in the right place.

Above 'Contacts plugin' is 'Contacts support', which was not ticked. I've 
ticked it, but that doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

Any further pointers very gratefully received...
