In particular, I think the Gmail/Mail.app integration leaves a lot to

nearly just the minimal thing that one can do.
This has less to do with desire and effort and more to do with the fact
that a web page can’t offer near as much functionality as an actual
application, like Mail, MailMate, etc.
I know others have asked, but wouldn't Mailplane offer a unique way to
duplicate most of the functional code from the current plugins (I'm
guessing here, so correct me if I"m wrong), to get similar effects in
quicksilver for Mailplane which then acts as a nicely written Gmail
interface? Not being a coder, and knowing well the dev team (Patrick

Rob, et al) likely have a TON on their plates, but out of curiosity,
how
much work would this involve?
I was able to create a plug-in for MailMate in one day, start to finish.
You can use that as an example. Most of the work is all in one file.
As far as I know, no one has ever created a plug-in based on one or more
requests. New plug-ins get created when someone:
1. uses the application in question (like Mailplane)
2. knows (or learns) how to create a plug-in
3. has time to work on it
