Now you can. Or better, is QS actually doing things by the book?

I read about quite a few modifier issues in the tracker, for example, #1712 
<https://github.com/quicksilver/Quicksilver/issues/1712>.

Did something break or get corrected between 4008 and 400F?

I tried replacing Jitouch's gesture with BetterTouchTool but it didn't work 
out.
