I think we are seeing different behavior and I'm trying to get a handle on it. You state above "For T-Bird and Firefox, it automatically added them to the menu, created he appropriate .desktop file (in ~/somewhere) and displays them on the menu with the appropriate icons." Which menu? What is the full name of the .desktop file? Let's just stick to firefox/mozilla for now. I have: /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/services/useragentstrings/firefoxoncurrent.desktop /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Internet/mozilla-firebird.desktop /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Internet/mozilla-firefox.desktop /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Internet/mozilla-thunderbird.desktop /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Internet/mozilla.desktop /opt/kde-3.4.2/share/mimelnk/application/vnd.mozilla.xul+xml.desktop But going through every entry in the K-menu, there is no firefox (or mozilla). To get a firefox icon, I had to create a "New Link to Application", rename it to firefox, and manually place it in the kicker panel. ~/.kde/share/apps/kicker/Firefox.desktop -- Bruce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-dev FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
