Please explain.

My understanding is that the daemon can be started using inetd, or
by a bootscript. The bootscript method starts the daemon at boot time
and it stays running, right?

What am I not understanding here? What do you mean, "you don't need
to start the server manually"?

You are speaking of the inetd method, as I mentioned, right?
