Whatever, Andy. You can argue all you want, and for all I care you can change the book to put it in /usr. I know how I want my systems. The book is wrong on that phrase as it applies to X. There are many packages that expect to find X in a place other than /usr. Notice I said earlier, "the expected method and location". Let's just leave it at that then, if "default" bothers you so much.
