Is this the way BLFS is going to implement xorg 7?
Not necessarily. We are exprimenting right now. We may end up using the
non-modular version for now and wait for the module packaging to mature.

Early last week, I started a periodic upgrade of my blfs scripts.
Took a look at X, spent some hours reading about 7.0, then dropped in
6.9 (ok, I've been using the rc versions earlier). 7.0 is going to be a
big step forward in getting updated versions of some of the packages,
but the downside is gnome-style fragmentation into a multiplicity of
packages. What scares me is the time to work out which parts my
hardware and usage needs, and the number of unsatisfactory builds along
the way - for me, 7.0 will have to wait until I have free cycles on my
test machine.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing 6.9 and 7.0 _both_ in the book,
until issues have been worked through a bit more. I'm sure there may be
config issues to be uncovered in 7.0, e.g. on a quick look online, I
couldn't see if anything was needed for xterms (for 6.9, define in
host.def).
