The learning is there if someone wants to tear the commands apart. I could see something like this for each section:

[snip loop]
which isn't too much different than what's there now.

I can see this for sure. And a list of the packages (perhaps even
one that could be downloaded) in a file would make it easy. I'm
just not sure we should be providing ways to create log files and
other such stuff that each person should figure out on there own
how they want to do it.
Once again, I agree. However, I've noticed in my {,B}LFS journey that you folks who edit and answer a lot of questions on the support lists walk a very fine line. I'm not advocating giving directions on how to build logs. (I scoured through both books looking for that line on how to build a log a number of times until I was smart enough to put it in a file so that I could add it any time.) But, and logging instructions are currently in the draft, giving these instructions may circumvent a lot of "Xorg won't build. What did I do wrong," type of inquiries.

Let me reiterate. My offerings are, "Here is a tool that worked for me. If you like it use it. If not, don't." And my feelings won't be hurt if none of my ideas are accepted.

At first glance, building Xorg-7.0 looks like it's too hard. In concept, I beleieve it's easier then openoffice. I one breaks down the installation to pieces, it's not so scary.

I do, however, think that offering a builder options is important.

I'm not sure what you mean here. What options are you talking about?
The different packages you may, or may not need for each individual
installation?
No. I'm talking about the different ways of installing the upgrade to X. I think that the book may want to talk about them all. They are:

1. Install Xorg-6.9
2. Use a completely automated install of Xorg-7.0
3. Use a compartmentalized install of the modules using loops and lists.
4. Make every single key stroke.

There is actually a fifth option which is a combination of [2-4].
