Perhaps we expect the readers to use the BLFS stated definition of
"recommended", and not try to interpret it themselves.

And, Chris, if you are installing a CPU in a motherboard, and the
documentation recommends that you use some heat-transfer jelly on
the CPU where it contacts the heat sink/fan assembly, would you not
consider that as deviating if you didn't do it?

Would you even *consider* not doing it?

Please, Chris, be reasonable here. As Bruce just said, the advice
given in the book is from *experienced* users. Not following that
advice simply means someone is willing to suffer the consequences
of that action.
