As long as its not overdone, no.  The reader should understand that the
'we' means the collecive editors/authors of the book.
Randy, if you don't mind, I would like to "massage" your text for things like this. In this particular case, for clarity, I would recommend something like "the BLFS staff," "we, the editors and authors," or "we at BLFS." The construction may become more stilted, but the clarity will exist.

It might be a couple of days before I can get my thoughts on this list.
