Randy, just a reminder to update the haldaemon bootscript. Looks like for hald, '--retain-privileges' is no longer valid, and must add '--daemon=yes' and probably '--use-syslog'.
I'm tearing my way through Gnome now. It's looking really good so far! I'm overwriting my (partial) installation of a few weeks ago.
