I can confirm the breakage with Mesa-6.5.2. There are some patches
floating around, I don't have them handy though.

I upgraded from 1.4.0 to 1.4.2 yesterday. I haven't had a problem

xchat-2.8.0 doesn't have any serious updates from 2.6.6. D-BUS has
become required (it is no longer a plugin), xchat-remote has been
removed. Gtk+-2.10 is now required. They added an icon to the
notification area. Other then that, not much has really changed.
