I've been having trouble with mplayerplug-in crashing seamonkey when
viewing some (actually quite a few) sites with video. The crashes are a
bit unpredictable as it doesn't always happen on the same video and
sometimes the crash is delayed to some time after I've played a video
(never before playing a video though).

I've used version 3.40 released 2007-Mar-21.

Upon analysis, I think the problem may be mplayer itself. I'm using the
MPlayer-1.0pre7try2 version in the book, but it is quite dated. My
system shows a download date for the package as Dec 20, 2005.

Looking at mplayer's svn, they have a tag for MPlayer1.0pre8 on Oct 22,
2006 (BLFS Ticket #2019) and MPlayer-1.0rc1try2 on Dec 31, 2006.

Looking more at svn, there seems to be active development going on as
some entries are yesterday.

I've got a couple of questions to throw out:

1. Has anyone else seen the browser crash problem with nplayerplug-in?

2. Should we update mplayer now to 1.0rc1try2 or wait for 1.0. It
seems that they encourage using direct svn releases. I have not seen
any schedule for a 1.0 release and I suspect they will say, if asked,
"when its ready".

3. Should mplayerplug-in be added to the book. If so, should it be a
separate section? In Video Utilities? In Graphical Web Browsers? Or
should it just be in the wiki?
