I like the idea of getting a release out ASAP, and moving on to 7.0. It probably is a good idea to get the simple package updates out of the way first, but maybe not the major ones.
To meet this goal, I would suggest to definitely leave out KDE4, as it is a major change from 3.5, and requires a number of new packages, well beyond just adding qt4 and cmake. Also, as noted, it isn't currently ready to replace kde-3.5. I'm ambivalent about xorg-7.3. I don't see it as a must to upgrade for 6.3, but it's also not as big a change as kde. I'm not familiar with the bugs DJ referenced, so I can't really comment on that situation. Gnome is quite foreign territory for me, no input there.
