I was *not* serious, just following along in your "messing" with Ken.  
But interestingly enough, after I sent my response I found that 
"pernickety" is a valid British spelling of "persnickety" so Ken wasn't 
wrong either.  And to make everyone happy, there's even a book titled 
"Persnickity".

Sorry to take up bandwidth with recursive trivialities.
