Now that LFS-7.0 is almost released, it's time to dig into BLFS. I
intend to start updating it, probably starting today.

My approach will be to expand my LFS-7 system with BLFS starting with
those tools I need most. These will generally be non-graphical
programs, utilities, and libraries. For instance, the first thing that
I need is ssh, so I will follow the dependencies and build bc, openssl,
and then openssh.

In doing this I'll check for the latest packages and update patches and
dependencies as I go, but I will not be building all the optional
dependencies (e.g. MIT Kerberos or Heimdal). Also needed are updates to
boot scripts to make them compatible with LFS-7.

I intend to put off xorg, kde, and gnome to the last.

I note that some packages do not need to be updated. For instance,
bc-1.06 (Nov 2000) is still current.

Although I really don't want to add any new packages right now, I'll add
those that are needed due to updating other packages.

If there are any suggestions or pressing needs, I can change the order
that I review packages. Please let me know if you need something soon.

Also, if you would like to participate, and help update the book, that
would be appreciated a lot.
