Is there anything significant left that uses glib1 or gtk1?. Looking at
the book, the following reference glib1:

general/sysutils/mc.xml: Can use glib2
kde/devel/kdebindings.xml: KDE3 - Optional
networking/netutils/wireshark.xml: Can use glib2
x/lib/gtk+.xml:

The following reference gtk1:

general/prog/pdl.xml:                 in PDL::Graphics::PLPLOT
general/genutils/pinentry.xml: Optional
kde/devel/kdebindings.xml: KDE3 - Optional
multimedia/audioutils/xmms.xml: Required
multimedia/audioutils/lame.xml: Optional
multimedia/videoutils/transcode.xml: Optional
multimedia/videoutils/mplayer.xml: Can use gtk2
multimedia/libdriv/libdv.xml: Optional
multimedia/libdriv/alsa-tools.xml: Can use gtk2
networking/netutils/wireshark.xml: Can use gtk2
postlfs/editors/vim.xml: Can use gtk2
pst/scanning/xsane.xml: Can use gtk2
pst/ps/gsview.xml: Required
pst/printing/espgs.xml: Can use gtk2

Should we remove glib1 and gtk1?

If so, we would need to remove xmms and gsview also.
