Cheers. I looked at the editor's guide and did an anon checkout.
But it still has values in LastChangedBy and nothing in the copy
from Wayne. But that isn't a real issue [ I don't want to update
files where nothing is being changed ] because I'm going to end up
diffing the individual files.

My revised plan is to do the legacy changes, then put the html
version into my lfs webspace. I'll make an announcement on -support
as well as here. Anyone who is in the midst of building gnome-2 can
look at that copy. Anyone who is building gnome-3 can continue to
look at Wayne's copy until the process is complete.

For the rest of it, I'll do a chapter at a time. If broken links
stop it rendering I'll temporarily comment them and add hardcoded
libfoo-2.3.4 as text (not a url!) with a marker in the comment.

For gnome, again do a section or chapter at a time, but just adding
and changing packages, not moving them.

When all is in, fix the commented links. Then delete packages (if
there are any - I now think all the old gnome packages have just
been moved to gnome/add/obsolete/).

At this point, the gnome sections will have both old and obsolete,
and existing packages will be in their old sections. Now svn mv
them to where they should be, and fix up the xml (e.g. add.xml) to
match what Wayne has done.

Required changes (e.g. webkitgtk gtk2/3 explanations) should be
done during the merge. Desirable changes (e.g. shared libs for
nettle) can come later, as can deletions if they are agreed.

Note that I'm still looking at the gnome details, and I'm conscious
that this isn't a good time for everyone to reply (it's already Xmas
in some places), so I'm not going to start on the merge until late
next week (or, perhaps, the beginning of january - depends how my time
pans out). If I've got time on my hands, I might do the legacy libs
and gnome-media at the beginning of next week.

There is also some doubt about how the sysconfdir parts of the
legacy applications will look after all this. At the moment Wayne
has /etc/gnome/3.2.2 in the gnome-3 part. We can discuss this
detail when the merge is complete.
