Happy to finally see something that I can contribute to. Yes, just create the .desktop file. Because FF (and other *zilla applications) icons change frequently, I prefer linking the icon: ln -sv -f /usr/lib/firefox/icons/mozicon128.png /usr/share/pixmaps/firefox.png (or similar filenames and direcories). Thus, for every version, I have the new icon. When icon name changes, the link is broken, but is easy to find the new icon name (I do not remember that happening as yet).
