LFS is on a 6 month schedule for September and March. The major reason we went from LFS 6.x to 7.0 was the change in boot scripts. There was also a bit of Linus' 'just because' there. I don't know if new versions of gcc/glibc justify an LFS major increment and even Jeremy's proposed changes only affect Chapter 5 and a relatively few instructions.
