Sorry, I was not liking the idea of building everything again.

OK, I just wanted to discuss, so that we agree on something, not to oblige
anybody to do anything.

Understood.

Maybe I am just too anxious. As you say, everything may settle down when we
come to release stable versions. OTOH, if, because we do not use the same
versions of LFS, we put the book into an inconsistent state, that may be
difficult to debug.

It has always been like that. But you are correct. This time the changes
are so important that depending on the version many many things are
different.

For now, I'll finish updating BLFS's gcc to 4.9.0, then build today's or
tomorrow's version of LFS, and test that the current BLFS book builds (using
automation as much as possible).

I use automation for LFS, never for BLFS, unfortunately.

I think that you, Bruce, Ken and I will be using each on a different
LFS-svn.

I think that is good right now. Seeing different things provides different test points.

Right now there are two major changes going on, gcc and systemd. We've gone through both types of changes before. When we went to 7.0, the complete change of boot scripts brought up similar issues to what we have with systemd (although this time it's a bigger issue). We also have gone though gcc changes pretty much every time we go from gcc-x.y to gcc-x.z.

The good news is that it is still April. We have four months to sort things out until the next scheduled stable release. My next goal is to sort out the BLFS bootscripts. Then I intend to do a complete BLFS build addressing every package. I am planning to buy a new laptop for that testing (recommendations anyone?). Currently I don't have a system to test wireless so a new laptop will address that too.
