I didn't do 4.3.1.2, but I did do 4.3.2.2. The log is about 35K lines,
but the word 'tested' is not in there at all.
Now I'm on a desktop box, I can see that its log does not mention
'tested' either. But I had not changed my script, apart from
setting it to only build en_GB on the netbook.
Attached is the script I used. Change the value of base_sbu as
appropriate.
I had already started a repeat using just 'make', to see if it
differs - I'll find out in a day or two ;-)
On the netbook, the SBU is 532.605s [ from timing a repeat of
binutils pass 1 after booting - the initial SBU using a very old
version of gcc was less slow. ]
Did you by by chance run out of disk space?
I would have thought that was unlikely, '/' is about 16GB. At the
moment (two hours or so into the build) I have 5.3GB available/ :
perhaps that was indeed the reason it failed.
Do you remember the problems I had with LO? Log was just that. This
time, I intentionally reproduced, by building via ssh, untill it failed.
I vaguely remember somebody had problems.
Then, I went to the machine, in an x-terminal, cd into the failed
source, make build, and it completed. Armin hada similar problem in
chroota. I included a note in the book:
" [Note]
Note
Building this package in a graphical environment is recommended. There
have been reports of build failures, when using chroot or ssh."
I saw that, but I still built over ssh without problems.
Yeah, but this was run from rxvt-unicode in X.
*Do not make clean*
Too late, but anyway, if I cannot build it from a script, I'm not
interested ;-)
I rarely have need for LO. Occasionally someone sends me a .doc file or
I do something in a spreadsheet, but I only have LO on one system for that.
Otherwise, I just build it to test book procedures.
Perhaps we should consider adding KDE bases calligra to the book:
https://www.calligra.org/news/calligra-2-8-6-released/
It's 114 MB (vs about 184 MB for LO) and may need some libraries not in
the book, but it's basically cmake-make-make-install like most of the
KDE apps.
