This not true. IIRC, David was the one who told this. I took dome time
for me to test what he said, I still can demonstrate in my system,
because they all are installed now. Problem is related to som being
dependent of gtk+2 (gnome-icon-theme) others, gtk+3 (adwaita-icon-theme).

The following packages need gnome-icon-theme-3.12.0 and some, if not
all, do not work with adwaita:

xsoft/other/ekiga.xml:      <xref linkend="gnome-icon-theme"/>
xfce/core/thunar.xml:      <xref linkend="gnome-icon-theme"/>
xfce/core/xfce4-settings.xml:      <xref linkend="gnome-icon-theme"/>

Please, search the archives. This was discussed, and we do have reached
a conclusion of not removing them. Unless you demonstrate that your
suspicions for replacement work.
