 The modesetting driver uses KMS, although it _appears_ to work

frame rates are not tied to the real refresh rate, and they were
higher with the kernel kms driver).

 More details to follow, I now need to build a kernel without
framebuffer support to check the kernel-side dependencies.

 To change to an already-supported resolution, xrandr is your friend.
In that example, they seemed to be adding a mode to run full-screen
on an odd screen size.
