That is interesting - I used lxdm on one machine for BLFS-7.6, but I
gave up on lxde and used xfce.  I don't get similar behaviour from
startx because my keyboard is mapped to a British variant and none
of my desktops show a flag for the keyboard (normally I have two
British groups of my own devising - one with more dead keys (dead
stroke, dead below comma, dead hook, dead horn, dead greek) and one
for cyrillic.  Just because I can.
