OTOH, almost all the lxde packages show an increase in required disk space (a couple of packages show an increase of 30 %). I wonder if it has something to do with gcc-8.3 or with GTK+-3. To answer Roger's question: LXDE/GTK+3 has some annoying little defects (gpicview has no menus, the panel sometimes is not shown in full), which I'd like to iron out (if possible) before putting it in the book. So I'll eventually build Qt, but after I finish this ticket.
