Dear All,

I installed XFree86 as per the directions given in the book. I got the
X-server rnning, with the xterminal as well as the pop up windows
working fine.

The space available on my computer was lesser so, I stripped the
libraries as well using --strip-debug option as specified in lfs 6.0
book. The folders i stripped are: /bin, /sbin, /usr/bin, /usr/sbin,
/usr/local/bin, /usr/local/sbin, /lib, /usr/lib, /usr/local/lib.

The chkconfig command which was already there is no more there. Also,
if I run xdm, I get the login screen and after logging in I can only
see the mouse pointer. nothing comes up, not even clock or terminal
window.

If I type startx, I get the terminal window but pop-up is not working.
doing xcalc gives nothing as well.

Did any of the library needs to be re-installed or is there something
else that needs to be done.

Please help.

Thanks and Regards,
Nupur
