Why don't you use the book's instructions? They work perfectly for me.
Who knows what konstructor is trying to do.

Compiling something as big as KDE is bound to generate lots and lots of
warnings. I got lots of them and KDE works great here.

Have you read http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/ ? I don't know if it
applies to your case, but anyway.
