Hopefully, that would be of some help. But David, do keep in mind that
several people (including me on 3 different machines) have installed
this version of KDE successfully following {B}LFS instructions.

One thing that could affect the build is that I'm using LFS-SVN, which
uses the GCC-4.0.x series, whereas I believe I remember you saying you
are using an LFS-6.1.1 build which uses a 3.4.x version of GCC.
