I haven't got that far yet, I saw the freeTTS in the book, so may go that
route. Although, I'm a fan of the dectalk voices and have a licence to use the
linux port. I'm trying lfs because of thelearning primarily but also because
gnopericus and other access utils such as orca seem to be difficult on debian
systems. Speakup users have recently been introduced to espeak which is a
plessant English voice synth. I'm a long way to getting such engines working
with gnopernicus. It does appear that the developement of gnopernicus has
seriously slowed down if not stopped. Plenty of things to play with, I guess!

Cheers
