Thank you so very much for your fast help! That really was the problem! You should have seen me, as I almost jumped of my chair when it finally worked :) This was the hint that made my lfs useable. Tough this may seem to be a trivial problem, I was searching in the wrong direction, i.e. /etc/sysconfig/network-devices. I've still got a lot to learn.
