Why don't you use the old access to your keyboard, not evdev?
It is with the "kbd" driver (in conjuntion with "evdev" for mouse) that
I have the problem with the extra-keys of the Logitech keyboard.
Before using "evdev" for the mouse, the extra keys with the "kbd" driver
were recognized.
I just mentionned the "evdev" driver for the keyboard just to show that
I tried this solution to resolve the problem of unrecognized extra-keys
but as I said, there is a bug in Xorg 6.9/evdev that prevents the using
of a keyboard map other than an US one.
From what I recall when I first started playing with evdev, it wasn't
supported properly in xorg 6.9. I had to install a pre 7.0 CVS release
like 6.9.99.
I think you might need to install xorg 7 for evdev to work properly.
There is another weird issue with this, if you use a KVM that converts
PS/2 keyboard (and mouse) ports to USB, the kernel seems to loose the |
"pipe" key.
Ken also had the same problem and it seemed to boil down to something
between the KVM and USB interface on the host.
I have an MX1000 working perfectly on my LFS with xorg 7.1 - but I can't
use udev rules to create a specific device as my mouse connects to my
KVM using PS/2 so the kernel never gets the mouse identifier strings. So
I just hardwire it to event1 IIRC.
Hope these points help somewhat.
Cheers
Alan
