I installed xfce4.4rc1 (all packages included in so called' fat tarball) in /usr. To every package I added: --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var The installation went without problems, but some applications seem to have problems finding icons.
One way to help diagnose this issue is with strace. This is not explicitly in the book (should be), but is in the Other Programming Tools section. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/general/other-tools.html Build should be straight configure, make, make install. After you get strace installed, try this command: strace -f -o <log file> -eopen <affected program> This will show you all the files that the program and it's children are trying to open. If you want to see more info, drop the -eopen. Hopefully, you'll see some messages about it trying to access icons and not finding them. That will help to diagnose the problem.
It seem to have problems to find path to icons ... I must have missed something. But I have no idea where to start... Can anyone help me please...
Do you have hicolor-icon-theme installed? I'm not sure if it's necessary for xfce, but it can't hurt. It may be a run time dependency. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/x/hicolor-icon-theme.html -- Dan -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
