I have kernel 2.6.33.3, cups-1.4.3 but udev-149. usb-printer support was not
configured as a module. Config_sysfs_deprecated_v2 is not set.

I had definitly to unselect usb-printer-support in order to see my printer in
localhost:631.

It could be, as you say, that my udev rules were old. I just upgraded to 151.
Or I set the wrong rule, perhaps.

Anyway, it is now working.

Another problem for me is now, that I cannot define a "raw" printer for Samba.
It seems that the new cups-1.4.3 does not have this feature. But I am going to
come back to this in a separate mail
Thank you very much for your comments
