Weird.
I'm not using --disable-static (it's a test of what's in the book,
we don't tell people to use it, and it sometimes makes a big
difference to the build time and the space used). But, I can't
build 5.14, either with or without the patch.
Seems to be in the docs, the command appears to be
MAKE=make srcdir="." SHELL="/bin/bash" /bin/bash mk-agen-texi.sh
agdoc.texi : ah, I see a message that it failed to regenerate the
docs, a screen or two before it finished.
The log doc/ag-texi-30464.d/texi.log says:

/me votes for NOT adding this to the book ;-) No, just kidding,
but I don't feel happy about either version at the moment. I can
see sporadic pastebin logs for various versions which seem to show
my sort of error, including a perhaps similar report for 5.14 on mac
lion. The discussions have eluded me.
