I am unsure if you have HD3000 (Sandybridge) or HD4000 (Ivybridge) 
graphics. If you have the latter, then I guess update can solve it, 
since I've seen some 2D and 3D improvements in DDX and Mesa for that 
chipset. If you have the former one, then something might be wrong on 
your setup or the driver itself. I have HD3000 and it works with driver 
versions from the book. You can try using SNA when building intel driver 
and see if the problem remains.
