Way OT, but when I went to college in 1972 I knew nothing about
computers. A kid in our dorm was a real nerd and not well-liked. One
day, we got hold of one of his programs on punched cards and shuffled
them thoroughly. We really thought we had done him in! Next semester I
took a programming class (Algol) and was shocked to find a little
machine in the key-punching room which would sort your cards back into
order effortlessly. Guess the joke was on us!
