I have the same observations as Armin. I think he had put an
introduction in Gnome telling that the packages should be built in the
order they appear in the book.

I believe this is still true with "Libraries" and "Libraries" (notice
the _required_ in the title). Thus, perhaps a new introduction would
solve these problems?

Thus the menu problems are solved (I had the same and solved with that
procedure in my last build).

Also, I think that the gnome-backgrounds should be moved back to the
book. Xscreensaver, e.g., uses it.

If you install LXAppearance, (which depends basically on GTK+-2.24.23
(required) and dbus-glib-0.102 (recommended), and you probably have
these, at this gnome point, you can palay with many combinations of
themes, icons, fonts, etc...
