packages later on. So the book is correct. We *do* expect that

Yes, I understand that recommended should be treated as required, unless you know what yo are doing or you want to try something on your own.

Experience shows that the (stable) book is correct, and I accept the "risks" of using SVN snapshots implies.

There's no such thing as fontsproto-1.5.0. Latest is 2.1.3. You probably
meant libXfont, and that one is already updated in latest svn versions.
