The meaning of "recommended" and "required" is an editorial choice in
the context of the book. My experience says that you better take
recommended dependencies as required or first think about not building
someone.
Another question is if lfs/blfs support lists are to be restricted to
the stable version. I wish we can have soon LFS 7.6 in order to have a
safe place to build on, and let SVN for experiencing and learning.
And the dependencies problem is quite old, which leads us to the
"package manager question"... that I won't address right now :-)
