Is(n't) it grub that's showing you the list and asking you the question?

Has the lfs79/7th drive been added for your lfs79 build; and wasn't present
before?

Does your BIOS/UEFI/whatever show anything unusual about the lfs79/7th
disk; incl is it omitted any place where the other 6 disks _are_ listed ?

Just to clarify: "The hd with my new LFS": is your "new LFS" - ie
lfs79 - contained _entirely_ within that hd?

If yes, then what are the partitions of the drive, what type of
partitioning (gpt or not), and what is the fs on each partn?

(If no, then what partitions (fs &c) are intended to be obtained from
other disks; and which disks/partitions.)

Hmmm. What is your lfs79 fstab; in partic how are you specifying
partitions (e.g. uuid or what?) in fstab cf in grub &c?

How does your lfs79 differ here from your lfs77/78 .

I'm assuming here that this means that:
--
* your lfs77/78 kernels worked all-ok on the exactly-same(?) hardware,
from within their respective lfs77/78 builds.

* you have not yet tried lfs77/78 kernels from within your lfs79
environment; and are going to do so.
